Workplace diversity

Lesbian, Gay, and Bisexual (LGB) Development

“As a lesbian myself, I know that when I work in environments where it is okay for me to identify as a lesbian I bring more of myself to my work and I believe I am more effective.  I am passionate about helping organisations and individuals to create organisational cultures where their LGBT employees are able to be themselves at work and organisations which are seen as employers of choice for new recruits.”

Jean is increasingly working with organisations on lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered workplace and organisational issues.
Many gay and lesbian staff do not feel able to tell their employer about their sexual orientation – yet - hiding something as important as this uses a lot of energy – energy which would be better channelled to their work.

Jean firmly believes that LGBT employees are more productive and happier at work when they can bring their whole selves to work and she works with organisations to help bring this about.
Her work includes

  • Helping workplace LGBT networks to develop and create business plans
  • Speaking to Senior Leaders, Teams and on Diversity Workshops on the experience of LGB employees in the workplace
  • Running leadership development for gay and lesbian staff

She has also conducted research into the experience of lesbians working in the City of London and has worked with a number of LGBT networks to both support their strategic planning processes and provide leadership workshops.

Jean continues to gather stories of LGB employees and their experience of work.
